Conifers and Heathers

Conifers and Heathers really are plants for all seasons providing us with year-round colour in the garden.

Conifers

We grow mostly dwarf and slow growing Conifers which are invaluable for adding beauty and interest to the modern garden.

They are especially effective when planted amongst Heathers or to add a sense of scale to the rock garden or border, they have endless other uses such as specimen trees, hedges and ground cover.

The many shades of yellows, golds, blues and greens and the large variation in shape and size

of conifers make them a joy to look at even in Winter and give a garden a relaxing atmosphere.

Conifers will grow well in patio

containers and sink gardens where even the tiny Juniperus communis compressa will be at home, growing to a height of only 50 cm. in 10 years.

Heathers

Heaths and Heathers give us a very long flowering period if we choose the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter flowering varieties. Even a few square metres of border can be made colourful and interesting throughout the year.

The foliage Heathers are colourful

even when not in flower especially in Spring when the new growth starts, varieties like Spring Cream and Flamingo are spectacular at this time of year.

Heaths and heathers make superb

ground covering plants and are ideal for keeping down weeds, if a

large border is to be planted it is best to plant your Heathers in groups of 3 or 5 plants and this will create a " patchwork quilt" effect of colour.

Conifers and Heathers need very little maintenance, trim your heathers every Spring and feed both with a general fertiliser.
