Grasses, Ferns
and Hostas

Ornamental Grasses

The many varieties of perennial grasses bring a different shape to the garden , with their long

narrow leaves they give an excellent contrast to the more rounded leaves of shrubs and other plants. They can be grown in groups , on  their own or in patio tubs.

Foliage colour is also superb, ranging from all the shades of blue, green, red, white and gold.

Ferns

The hardy ferns are superb for planting in shady

places in the garden giving a beautiful foliage effect. Most ferns can be planted under shrubs and

trees and around other plants.

The ferns leaves are called fronds and are often

feathery creating a marvellous textured effect.

Hostas

The Hostas all have beautiful bold foliage which comes in all shades of green,  blue, gold and

variegated. They make good groundcover in partial

shade or sun.  Hostas produce spikes of  lilac or white lily-like flowers in Summer.

Try planting Hostas with Rhododendrons and Azaleas or under Japanese Maples for a special effect.
